Repeating questions or asking to “go home” often happens because the person with dementia can’t remember the answer they were just given. Instead of answering the same question over and over, visual reminders can sometimes help.
Why repetition happens - The brain can no longer store new information well, so the person asks the same question repeatedly.
Respond with reassurance - Answer calmly each time rather than arguing or saying, “I already told you.”
Try visual reminders - Use a whiteboard with day, date, where they are, and a reassuring message if appropriate.
Use a dementia clock - A large clock showing the time, day, and date can reduce confusion and make the person feel more secure.

These are just a few simple tips that may help when caring for someone with dementia. every person is unique, and finding what works best for your loved one takes patience, understanding, and compassion.
